Last season the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns were two of the most surprising teams in the NBA. While the Suns fell short of advancing to the NBA playoffs, they improved their 2012-2013 regular season record of 25-57 to a winning record of 48-34 in 2013-2014. Not bad for a team with a new coach and a slew of young talent.
The Trail Blazers also turned heads in 2013, taking the league by storm with a winning record of 54-28 (fifth in the West). LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard performed like MVP’s while leading their team beyond the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs — the first time since the year 2000.
The Trail Blazers and Suns are a prime example of how quickly a team can shift the tide and transform hard work and dedication to success in a league packed with competitive teams on both coasts. While we’re sure both teams will enjoy continued success, lets take a look our predictions for the most surprising teams in the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA season.
